Saturday, August 30th

Greetings from Nappanee, Indiana.   Turns out the slide is good, but the problem was with a spring on the awning above the slide so it didn't contract tightly when closed.  Layne found a place in Plymouth, Indiana, Weirs,  where they could replace the spring.  Turns out a couple of screws were missing, so they replaced those and also adjusted the springs.  Now the slide closes tight with no problem.  We then drove to Solar Energies in Nappanee, Indiana to have another battery installed on Friday.

Nappanee has a huge population of Amish.  So we saw a lot of horse buggy's and biking on the roads.

Of course the horses also left their messes on the road so we were always avoiding the droppings.  As
you drive on the back roads you see many well kept Amish farms.  Their flower and vegetable
 gardens are beautiful.

We are staying at a local campground until Tuesday and will be taking our time traveling to Vermont to
do some volunteer work for two weeks.
Hoping you all are having a great Labor Day Weekend!  Enjoy!

Sunday, August 24, 2025.  Happy Birthday Mack!

This has been the best week!  We stayed eight days at the Big Rock Forest Preserve near Big Rock, Illinois.  It's a beautiful well kept park with spacious lots.  We found a good Farmers Market and bought some awesome vegetables.  We also experienced our first storm.  It was frightening for about two minutes with the wind, but then it just rained.  The weather has been cooler most nights so we had a couple of camp fires.

We didn't do much this week.  I did read a book and Layne did a lot of research for our next stays.  We did make plans for the next couple of months and the winter months of January thru March which we are excited about.   Of course we will tell you of our new adventures in future posts.

Monday, August 25th.  Today we are leaving Big Rock and driving only 2 1/2 hours to Moscow, Iowa. There we will be at HWH to have our one slide and jacks looked at.  The slide starting to make strange noises when it moved in or out.  So, we would rather have it looked at now before there is a big problem.  We went out to dinner at a Mexican Restaurant and driving back to our camp we took a side road "just because"  and saw some donkeys in a field.  First time I saw three asses in one group!!! Only in Iowa!

Hope everyone is well.  Until our next post!

Hello again.  Today is Sunday, August 17.  In the last post I forgot to add this pic of Layne and I at Bay Harbor, Acadia National Park.  Some kind lady asked if we wanted a photo taken.

This past week, we stayed at Paul Wolff Campground in the County Forest Preserve, just a 20-minute drive from Crystal Lake. It was a hectic week filled with doctor, dentist, and eye appointments. The most significant issue we tackled was resolving bank account problems due to fraud on my debit card, which led to all our accounts being frozen. We decided to switch banks, so we spent a couple of days going back forth between banks to set up new accounts and close the old ones. It was stressful, but it’s finally done.

My doctor’s appointment went well. My lab results were better than last April’s, though my sodium was slightly low, which is typical for me. My doctor was pleased and said, “See you in six months.”

Unfortunately, we didn’t catch up with friends or do anything particularly special this week. Bob stopped by one day, and I handed over all his files, officially wrapping up our work together which was bittersweet. It was time to let go and focus on enjoying our travels. On a practical note, Layne installed lights in our RV’s basement compartments, which now turn on automatically when the doors open—a handy upgrade! Until next time.

Hello everyone, we closed on our house on June 23rd and started our travels on the 25th!  We first went to Indiana to have a few repairs done with the solar panels we had installed in March.  We then took our time driving to Maine. In New York we crossed Lake Champlain on a Ferry which the RV took up about 4 car spaces.  It was interesting to watch the GPS crossing over water.

We spent a lot of time in New Hampshire one of our favorite states.  Stayed at a campground that had warnings of bear, but we didn't see any.

When spent a week in Maine with a group of RV campers which we were invited to.  We went to Acadia National Park where we did a lot of site seeing.  The picture shows the rocky shoreline of Maine at low tide.

This is a picture showing a dock with a ramp and a floating raft at the bottom. When it's high tide the raft and ramp will be at the same level as the dock.   It's amazing to think that the tide rises 12 ft. each day.

We heard about the Lobster Ice Cream so we had to try it.  It sounds awful, but it is delicious.

We enjoyed our many meals of Lobster, Lobster rolls and Haddock.  We ate fish everyday!

After our week we traveled through Canada, went across the bridge at Sault St. Marie into Michigan and drove to Minnesota to meet with Joan's siblings for a fun weekend.  Then drove on the Layne's parents for a family gathering with his sister from Maui being home.  Now we are in Illinois catching up with Doctor and Dentist appointments.   Looking forward to our next adventure.....not sure where.
